The first Kyle’s Camp in 1998 bought 16 young children to Broome to experience a week of the Broome lifestyle with Kyle so that in Kyle’s words…
“so it would make them feel better”.
Kyle loved the Broome lifestyle and throughout his illness and treatment in Perth during the few occasions that he was able to return to Broome, the beach and the Broome lifestyle always recharged him, made him feel stronger and mentally more prepared to enable him to continue his treatment. It made him feel better.
The annual Kyle’s Camp has bought joy to a large number of kids battling serious or life threatening diseases with each year the Foundation providing 15-20 children and a number of PMH nursing staff with a holiday in Broome to give the children the opportunity to smile again.
Families with sick children are contacted directly through the hospital system.
The week long camp comprises an array of Broome activities including the Willie Creek Pearl Farm Tour, Great Escape Boat Cruise, Broome Crocodile Park visit, Hovercraft Tour, Camel Ride, Fishing and a host of other activities. The children stay at the Broome Camp School right on the beautiful Cable Beach with its magnificent sunsets.
